Ground Up

Got to hang out and ride with Eric Baar from GroundUp Speedshop this week. Took him and our other Eric out on a post work rip on Emerald to get him accustomed to altitude properly.  Saw more Meeses, chatted bikes and bike polo, stopped to gaze at some vistas, and followed it up with a celebratory beverage at Storm Peak Brewery before returning to Moots.

Eric seems to have a bird in his eye.

The was able to welcome Aaron back to the bike after his elbow surgery from July's wreck and compound fracture coming down Red Dirt after work with a Caleb and Rob (2 singlespeeders vs 2 full-suppers). He's still on the mend and wearing G-forms just in case since he's currently at about $110K of "out of network" medical bills. Fuck, we need to fix this medical / ambulance chasing sue happy world we live in.

At least there were celebratory beers at Butcherknife. Yay for Belgian Pale Ales.

Mondays, Never Heard of Them

Early Monday Morning Message from the Owner

Every Monday this year has held a 4:30 Moots ride. Always different and entertaining as we have myriad ride options right outside the front door. The rides also always end with beer paid for by Moots at Storm Peak. A proper social end to proper social rides. This Monday surely didn't disappoint. What are the odds we'd hit the exact downhill I had just spent Sunday hiking and thinking I needed to hit it on a bike sooner rather than later as the colors are just starting to pop? Pretty damn good odds really, we've yet to let adventure's call roll over to voicemail. #neverghostadventure #firstring

Staycated Springs

Sometimes you just wanna lay low for a weekend and enjoy the fabulous fall weather in your 'hood and not deal with the traffic or the tourists. So we stayed local. Got a good hike in up to Rabbit Ears Peak, took in some mountain lakes for a swim, an evening mountain bike ride up on Mt. Warner, another hike to the hot springs, and enjoyed the sunshine and outdoor patios at one of the local breweries, then finished with a firepit (or two). Weekend was successfully staycated. Off to the desert now. Fall rocks. Hard.
