Black-In

Internet blackout has been lifted. We are once again connected to the outside world at faster than 3G speeds. It feels so good.

To quickly catch up: We bought a farm.

And on our farm is a big blue barn.

Owning a farm means you need a tractor. So we bought one to match the barn.

Surprisingly, they both match my MOOTS kits.

It's a lot of work owning a farm. Especially one that has sat dormant for a very long time. There are so many things to do, like deciding on  a mural/flag to paint on the barn.

I'm thinking a Mr Moots Lion of Flanders.

15 Minutes Later

Alice Donut and power tools. A perfect pairing. Made some more headway on the bike room tonight. Slowly it is all coming together.

Aside from spending my days off shoveling gravel, clearing and installing fence rows, t-posts and generally getting the back acres safe and ready for the horses, I did manage to get out for a good 66.6 miles of Hickman gravel this weekend. RideforReading founder Mathew Portell was able to come along with the Southeast GrassMOOTS crew, Raphaboy, and friends. He captured a bit of it on video. Enjoy.

Honey Do Home Work

Sunday's ride plans got the back seat to some chores needing done around the farm. We're moved in, but we are far from settled and the chores list is many. As H. puts it "it's a marathon, not a sprint." Good thing too as a one day "weekend" doesn't allow for knocking out too much on the list at a time, but it's all coming along. The dog fencing was installed last weekend, this weekend the grand dog door made it in.

The short winter daylight hours left me with several hours to waste, er... work on unpacking things,  cleaning, and organizing the house.

Or more specifically, the bike room. Not to be left out, the dogs quickly went to work clearing the back yard of underground pests. Many carcasses were found splayed out as a warning to other vermin in such areas as the deck and the kitchen floor. Thank you, Mr. Dog Door. Doh!

Settling In

Slowly settling into the new digs. We're still living out of boxes, but we're all in and the bike room is coming together nicely. The new commute has been a huge boon to my mental attitude. First bike commute tomorrow. It's going to be awesome.
